Brain
I want to thank you again for sharing your knowledge this weekend. I have learned tremendous amount useful information and I going to apply these new tools in every one of my jumps. You have helped me change my opinion of canopy flight. I wish my finances would have permitted me to make that last couple jumps (should have skipped the sandwich and I could of made the full attitude) but I will work with the people at my home DZ on the team flying. All of us are very grateful that you have taken the time to help all of us grow in the sport
Thanks and have an awesome day
Lloyd

Hey Brian...just wanted to say thanks for the articles that you write and have posted on dropzone.com. I am a new skydiver and have read several of them...they are easy to understand. I have been reading a lot about canopy control lately...taking a course at the Farm in Georgia this month. Ian Drennon is supposed to be leading it. Anyway, appreciate your time and effort!

As far as fear in our business, there's definitely risk, and that is always a big part of any proposal for a space mission; perhaps not "fear" per se (any more than any business), but I'll certainly be looking for signs of it from now on. I know there had been too much risk-aversion in NASA a few years ago, but things have changed with the current administrator, and they are more gutsy now.

Our office is always talking about proposing ballooning on Mars. And many big Mars missions do use parachutes for putting down a rover or whatever.

Would your idea be for sustained flight, or decent? If the former, that could be very interesting, as there is also talk of small flying aircraft that would gather data over a long period from the air. That is the scope of missions we might propose here, especially. If you tell me more about it, I can see who in our group might be interested. As for NASA or JPL themselves (i.e. the larger flagship missions), I'd have to find out who would be researching parachute designs.

Hey Brian, I'll hceck, but there is a canopy control class in two weeks there which is full - so either there is high demand or people will say "Thanks, just did one..." You still have any dates free while over here?

Hey, that's awesome (your motivational speaking) - what a great idea. I'm still in the space biz; we're working hard on New Horzions (Pluto mission) at the moment, but also on a few new ones (Mars and other stuff).

The words that, to me, often embodied the confrontation of the fear of perceived physical dangers are "mind over emotion". I think many skydivers go through this stage when confronting the reality of the risk that surrounds us every day.

Keep helping people to overcome fear - it's a noble pursuit!

Hey Brian, long time! We worked together on your web page/domain stuff when you were here in Colorado and you were working on the Samurai, and of course you packed my reserve a few times. :) Hope things are well!

Blue skies, Joe
