Welcome!!!

Dwight Steyn, the founder of Handi-Capable International, lost his left leg below the knee in a roll-over car accident. Once at the hospital the doctor's found a blood clot in his head which caused complications and a term of mortality in the operating room. This was, according to the doctors, going to cause many extreme physical and mental problems and inabilities. The doctors were wrong.

I'd like to welcome anyone with inspiring stories or "limitations" to share and help others overcome challenges they are presented with. We CAN make a difference and help others to realize that nothing is impossible if you truly have the desire to make dreams reality.

Comment by Renegade Exit on May 8, 2008 at 10:42pm: I joined to honor and support my son. He has cerebral palsy and other and varied conditions. He is with me everytime i go to our DZ. He is my biggest fan, harshest critic, and my best friend. We went to the wind tunnel in NC at the end of march and he got to fly. Man, now that was my greatest moment in skydiving. To see his smile and feel his excitement... that i will never forget. He gives me strength, helps me not whine (too much :) ) He makes me understand what it is to really live life and not just exist. The people at our DZ treat him, not like a mascot, but like one of the "guys". No slack and he has had to earn their respect. That, my friends, is the greatest give one human can give another. So thank you for reading this and now we will get back to tossing the old man out of airplanes

I just joined (the network) today to support a girl that just lost her foot. My lower left leg was removed last year as a result of a 2005 accident (with power lines). I am looking forward to meeting the people on this group.

Comment by Just Wingin it! on March 27, 2008 at 12:03am: I am happy to say that as of now I have all of my limbs, but I have recently met a jumper that just lost his foot and is awaiting his prosthesis so he can continue his career as a skydiver. Cheers to him and anyone else who has the courage to continue on in the sport while missing something more than a few brain cells, I have the utmost respect to you all. Blue skies.
