I'd like to get some info on the course as soon as you have any. I currently have my coach rating and am at Elsinore all summer. Please let me know what will be required for the course. I'm told you need "alot" of freefall time, but I seem to remember reading in the IRM you're only required to have 3 hours of freefall time. Do you happen to know?
Thanks for the heads up on the course and hope to hear from you soon!!

Hi Erika,
Here is the info off Jay Stokes web site...

REQUIREMENTS FOR TAKING THE COURSE:

To participate in a USPA AFF rating course you need the following:
be 18 years old
USPA membership
be a USPA coach or instructor from another discipline (IAD, S.L or USPA
Tandem)
have a C-license or higher or foreign equivalent
have documentation of 6 hours of freefall time
have the USPA AFF proficiency card signed off in the required places prior to the course.
For the course you need a current (not older then 24 months) SIM and IRM. These can be ordered from USPA.(www.uspa.org)

THE PROFICIENCY CARD:

The AFF proficiency card is in the back of the IRM. This card needs to be signed off in the required areas before the course starts! If you are already an instructor you can skip the topics that are marked with a "*". The first thing you should do if you consider taking the course is look at the proficiency card to see what needs to be done prior to the course. It may take some time to complete the signatures on the card. Some topics will get signed during the course by the course director. This is all marked on the card itself and is pretty much self-explanatory.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, that helps alot. Seems I got some homework to do. I'm up to 3 1/5 hours of freefall time.
I'll let you know if I can participate in this course coming up.

the course itself is pretty much an i/e trying to hose you. You need really solid belly skills, as well as the ability asses the situation and correct it on the fly. Other than that just be ready to saddle out under 2000 feet for the precourse and the course itself.
